Dr. Randy Naidoo, M.D., FAAP, ABIHM
Chief Executive Officer, Owner

Dr. Naidoo wishes that his bio was short, but that would be a disservice to all that have helped him along the way. His parents made the journey from South Africa in 1971 to create more opportunities for themselves at the time and for their children later. His mother chose Dallas instead of Toronto.

Born at Presby Dallas in 1976, Dr. Naidoo has seen the Dallas-Fort Worth area change from primarily a big city with several suburban and rural communities to a major suburban metropolis that has connected much of Dallas and Fort Worth to make it a population of millions where boundaries are no longer a concern.

Dr. Rahima Afroza, M.D.

Dr. Rahima Afroza came to the United States in 2006 from Bangladesh and had a successful journey in the path of becoming a foreign medical graduate. She completed her pediatric residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, TX. Being recognized as one of the best residents, she earned the Dean's Award for the ‘Outstanding Intern’ in 2010-2011.

During her residency, Dr. Afroza met Dr. Ralph Habersang, a pioneer in establishing a proper PICU in Amarillo, TX, as well as a primary care provider for almost all of the special needs children in the Texas panhandle area. He changed her vision about the future of general pediatrics and what a physician represents. She was taught to believe that a general practitioner should be comfortable handling and treating a variety of complex disorders. She believes that it is not necessary to have ten different referrals for ten differing symptoms.

Christie Potter, MS, RN, CPNP
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer

Christie was born in Las Cruces, NM in 1978. Her parents moved to Oklahoma when she was just two years old. Christie grew up just outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma in the small town of Owasso. In her younger years, Christie’s passion for children was always apparent, from volunteering at church in the children’s ministries to being the neighborhood babysitter and frequently being the nanny to her cousins when she was as young as 12 years old.

Jessica Boniol, MS, RN,FNP-BC

Jessica was born an only child in 1981 in Garland, Texas. Her younger years were spent roller skating at the local skating rink and hanging out with her friends and family. She has always had a love for children and originally aspired to become an elementary school teacher.

In high school, she sang in the choir and worked part time at Texas Skatium, organizing birthday parties for kids and working with the management team. She graduated from Rowlett High School in 2000. She decided her aspiration was to become a nurse, so she attended Texas Woman’s University School of Nursing and graduated in 2005.

Chandra Garvey, MS, RN, CPNP

Chandra was born in Chicago, IL and lived in the Midwest until she was in the fifth grade. Texas has been her home ever since. She has had a love for children all of her life. Being the eldest sister of three, she grew up knowing what it was like to care for younger children. As a teenager, babysitting was one of her favorite activities. One family that she frequently babysat for joked that they paid her college tuition. She also coached a summer swim team through college while lifeguarding and teaching youngsters how to swim.

Tiffany Hamilton, FNP-C

Tiffany grew up in Rowlett, Texas. As a teenager, she babysat frequently and volunteered her time working with special needs kids at Rowlett High School. During her senior year, she took a clinical rotation class and was able to shadow nurses at Lake Pointe Hospital to learn firsthand what it meant to be a nurse. While many of her classmates decided that nursing was not for them, this experience only fueled Tiffany’s aspiration to become a nurse.

She graduated from Rowlett High school in 2000, and that fall she began her journey into the nursing profession. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University in 2005.

Pat Arnett CPNP

Pat has been in primary care practice since December 2010. She has 15 years of experience working in hospital settings, especially in neonatal and pediatric intensive care.

She is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii.  She has 3 children and enjoys spending time with them in her free time. Her favorite hobbies are figure skating, traveling, golfing and scuba diving.

Tanya Smith PA

Tanya's journey to health began as a little girl in Jamaica.  Her relatives made an Aloe Vera concoction that she drank nearly every morning and they took her to the beach regularly.  She was born in Plano, Texas. When she was 2 and ½ years old, she moved to Jamaica to live with her family, her aunt and uncle and five other children because she had terrible allergies and eczema.  At that tender age, her quest for health and vitality began. Her family in Jamaica used the natural medicine that they knew of at the time to help her body heal itself.  As a teenager, she returned to Dallas to live with her mother.  She eventually went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas and later her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of North Texas Health Science Center - Texas College Of Osteopathic Medicine.  Interestingly, her master’s thesis dealt with a topic that was close to her heart: “Are there any Effective Strategies for Nut Allergies?”

Her first job was in family medicine/urgent care, which allowed her to hone her skill set.  She found her niche a year later in pediatrics, and has been treating these precious little ones for six years now.  In all her years of practicing medicine, she has always incorporated a holistic approach even though she has been traditionally trained.  The beauty she has discovered in practicing medicine is that it is fluid.  One can capture the essence of this art by personalizing it to the individual and that approach always has the best outcome.  As a holistic practitioner, she prides herself on addressing all the needs of the patient (mental, emotional, physical and spiritual) to help them attain improved well-being.  True health, from her perspective, is allowing the body to heal itself.  Her  job is to facilitate that.

Her own journey to good health from infancy, her determination to help others get relief from poor health, along with her desire to see children enjoy life has helped to shape who she is today.  When she is not working, she invests her time and energy into doing volunteer work with her local congregation.

Rebecca Hermes MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC

Rebecca was born and raised in Minnesota. She graduated from high school in 1998 and ventured south to Texas to attend college and to escape the brutal Minnesota winters. She has always had a passion for caring for children, but took her time in college, exploring some different career options, until she discovered nursing was the right fit for her.

She attended nursing school at the University of Texas at Arlington where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007. She began her nursing career at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, working with newborns and new mothers. During her time there, she participated in the National Certification for the hospital’s Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.

Prior to joining the Shine team, Rebecca worked for Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas for six years in the New Family Center, continuing to bring her knowledge and experience to new mothers and their newborns.  At Baylor, she was a charge nurse, nursery nurse, transitional nursery nurse, and had cross-trained to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In 2012, she earned her Certification in Maternal-Newborn Nursing through the National Certification Corporation.

Rebecca has always desired to advance her nursing education. In 2014, she decided to go back to school to earn her Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in pediatrics. She attended Texas Woman’s University, graduating in 2016. Rebecca is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.  She is also a Fellow of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

Rebecca has a daughter and a labradoodle that both keep her busy! She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and volunteering. Rebecca and her daughter love being active and experiencing new adventures every opportunity they have!
